Find Wellbutrin Sr And Celexa in Questions
Does a celexa and wellbutrin sr combo work well? i have bad anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). i've tried luvox, lexapro, prozac, and remeron and have yet to find a medicine that will work for me i'm mainly looking for relief from my horrible anxiety. i'm really sensitive to side effects. my stomach hurts, i get bad nausea, i get tired, i get dizzy. i've heard people rave about celexa and wellbutrin combo. they call it "celwell" and say it works wonders because it treats so many things all at once. is anyone on this combination?? does it work well? can i expect any bad side effects??

Misa M replied: "I have the same exact problem except when my anxiety starts up, I usually end up in the hospital. If you get a good reliable answer, could you please tell me?"

realme1960 replied: "I have severe depression and am on welbutrin SR and paxil. I am on the high dosages one can go. I have no major side effects, and they both help me together. If you are having bad side effects, be sure to tell your doctor, sometimes one med will do it, sometimes a combo, but there are several different types of meds to try, so don't just give up if these meds as a combo don't seem to work for you or the side effects are bad. Keep working with your doctor, and eventually they will find something to help you, it's just that sometimes it can take awhile to find the right combinations, but don't give up. And don't quit your meds without the doctor's approval, and don't try to "self medicate". Good luck, something will help you feel better. Depending on what dosage you are on with the Welbutrin, this can cause panic attacks, so maybe you need to be taken off this med? Another side effect of welbutrin is nausea which you described. Sounds like you shouldn't be on welbutrin at all. Be sure to mention all your symptoms to your doctor."

Side effects for Wellbutrin SR - I'm not having any? I was on Celexa for almost 4 months. It worked well for the issues I was taking it for, but caused anorgasmia. So I asked to be switched to Wellbutrin SR, which has a low occurance of sexual side effects. I've been off the Celexa for over a week, and taking the WB for a week. I don't have any of the listed side effects of the WB, nor do I feel like it's doing anything for any of my issues. It lists insomnia as a major side effect, which is why I shouldn't take the 2nd dose after 6pm. But I feel more tired, not more awake. I don't feel more energetic, either. Is this just going to take a while to build up and kick in? The Celexa worked right away. I don't like feeling the way I'm feeling, when I'm taking medication and it's not helping. I did have insomnia before I started the Celexa - had trouble falling asleep, trouble staying asleep, etc. That seems to have evened out, and the WB doesn't seem to have any effect, + or - on my sleeping.

TD replied: "Celexa didn't do anything for me. I can't take Wellbutrin because of my eating disorder. For some reason you can't take Wellbutrin if you have an eating disorder."

burntflowrz replied: "You have to give medications a good month to notice the effects."

Lily replied: "Give the wellbutrin some time to get into your system, otherwise talk to your doctor at your next appointment."

KB replied: "First of all, insomnia does not mean being more awake, it means having trouble sleeping. You can be very tired and still have difficulty sleeping. Also, you don't HAVE to have the side effects listed on a medication. Those are all potential effects and are not the same with every person. if you have questions on your medication, please talk to your doctor. Your doctor can let you know if the medication needs time to build up in your system or if you should feel the effects right away. NEVER self dose on medication, or stop taking medication without the consultation of your doctor."

Rosie S replied: "I took Wellbutrin for a couple of weeks. It made me itch. No rash. Just an itch. It was a nervous itch around by neck and upper chest area. Skin got red. Also had pain in my right upper abdomen. Thought it was gallbladder. Had ultrasound. Gallbladder okay. Stopped taking the Wellbutrin and symptoms left. Started then on Prozac."

deshane2530 replied: "Wellbutrin did not work for me at all. I might have well have saved my money. It was about as good as aspirin for that. It takes awhile to build up in your system. If after 2 months, you see no difference, try something else. Maybe Lexapro or Lamictal. To me, those are better."

Boopie replied: "Give it about two or more weeks. If it doesn't work for you still then try another drug. Wellbutrin is one of the only drugs that has low sexual side effects. Try one of the newer atypical drugs. Lexapro is a newer version of Celexa so that might be good. But if Celexa worked well for you, don't feel ablidged to try another drug just because it is newer. If it isn't broke then don't try to fix it."

kitty.hicks replied: "You didnt mention how long you have been taking wellbutrin.... but if its been longer than a few weeks then you should have seen results. You may want to give other SSRI 's a try. here is a current list of whats available .... maybe discuss these with yur Dr. citalopram (Celexa, Cipramil, Emocal, Sepram) escitalopram oxalate (Lexapro, Cipralex, Esertia) fluoxetine (Prozac, Fontex, Seromex, Seronil, Sarafem, Fluctin (EUR)) fluvoxamine maleate (Luvox, Faverin) paroxetine (Paxil, Seroxat, Aropax, Deroxat) sertraline (Zoloft, Lustral, Serlain)"

anyone taking Wellbutrin SR 100 mg.? My doctor just took me off Celexa 20 mg. and put me on Wellbutrin SR 100 mg. twice daily. He gave me a generic form, but it's still too expensive. I can't afford to take two daily. I'm only working part time, and have no insurance. Does anyone know if it would be ok to just take one daily. And still have good effects. And what I can expect from taking this. The Celexa just wasn't working for me. My sex drive went down hill. Among other side effects.

TIM D replied: "I have some experience with it. It took me a while to find the corrct dosage and if I take too much I clinch my teeth all the time. If I dont take enoght it doesnt help me at all. If I took half of my dosage; I would be wasting time and money."

kallmetigger replied: "I am taking taking it, in addition to Celexa. My celexa wasn't enough alone. I only take one a day, but I am still taking the celexa as well. I don't see why you can't however, if you start having symptoms, you probably don't have any choice. I would really ask your doctor though if it is safe. If you have been taking it, and stop, some of those medications can cause issues with immediately halting. As for the sex drive, tell me about it. Zilch, Zilch Zilch."

buster replied: "A lot of depressed people take Wellbutrin because it doesn't affect your sex drive. However, if the price of it makes you MORE depressed, talk about it to the doctor. You usually have to stick by the prescribed dosage."

Rockford replied: "Yes, I took 100mg. At that dose, it will help you with fatigue, but you will not get much antidepressant effect. Wellbutrin is a mild stimulant. If you are prescribed an antidepressant like Celexa and feel tired, ask your doctor to add 100mg or so of Welbutrin to it, it will really help. It might have kept your sex drive intact. That was the combo I was on. Have you tried Lexapro? It's the exact same drug as Celexa(same company), except made purer so it has less side effects. Some people have the same sexual side effects as Celexa, but others don't. I don't have insurance and am trying to strech my medicine now too and I'm finding its one area in my life where maybe I can't afford to. My moods were horrible when I cut the dose in half. Good luck Celexa+Wellbutrin is a good combo if you can afford it."

Does Wellbutrin to Celexa mix safely? i take 40mg of celexa a day, could i add 200mg SR to that safely? i stooped the wellbut. forgot about it and then was prescribed celexa now im wondering. so i guess ill just call a pharm.

bflogal77 replied: "Are you planning on puting these two drugs together on your own? or have you been prescibed this dosage? Call your pharmnacist and ask them...they can tell you which drugs do not interact well."

Blues Man replied: "As U know they R both antidepressants. No they do not mix together at all. U could be in 4 an OD that would not be pleasant. Please do not mix these 2 together. I'm posting what both R 4 U. \ This is Celexa************************* Citalopram is an antidepressant drug used to treat depression associated with mood disorders. It is also used on occasion in the treatment of body dysmorphic disorder and anxiety. Citalopram belongs to a class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Bupropion is both a dopamine reuptake inhibitor and a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.[2] It is used as a smoking cessation aid under the brand name Zyban, and as an antidepressant under the brand name Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR and Wellbutrin XL."

why is it important to stop taking one anti-depressant 3-7 days before starting a new one? my doctor told me to wait 3-4 days in between switching from celexa to wellbutrin sr. when i asked my pharmacist she said it should be 3-7. why is it important to do this?

jonnyraven replied: "To let the drugs work out of your body"

Stephanie replied: "because the chemical makeup is different between the ones your on now and the ones your switching to. if you do not wait long enough and since they are mind and mood altering medications, you can cause some serious issues- if you dont wait you can end up with panic attacks, unsteady moods and shock like symptoms as well as other things."

TweetyBird replied: "This is what we call the "washout" period. It allows the previous med to be completely metabolized and excreted from your body."

Boondada replied: "Taking anti-depressants was the worst thing I ever did to myself...my advice is to get off of them and stay away from them! I am not a doctor."

levindis replied: "Mood altering medications are not fast acting. How they work is that they gradually need to build up in the human body to become effective. This is done to mitigate any side effects a massive dose would cause. So even after you stop taking these medications you body is still metabolizing the existing amount in your system. Now neither your doctor nor you pharmacist can tell how fast your specific body metabolizes any medication but they do have a guide regarding how long a given dose metabolizes in someone roughly your age, weight, and build. This is why there is a discrepancy between the 2 time periods. It is important to allow the meds to be processed through your system before starting a new one because whenever you start a new medication the doctor is trying to determine the appropriate dosage for you and whether or not the particular medication is effective. So there is no way to judge this if the previous medication is still in your system."
