Can You Take Aleve And Advil Information in Questions
How long should I wait to take Aleve after taking Advil? How many Aleve can I take? Both of my legs are in a lot of pain from exercising (and lack of preparation before the exercises). Two hours ago I took two advil, which have not helped. The aleve bottle says for the first dose (I've never taken it before), you can take two pills within the first hour. Is it safe for me to take two pills? When can I take these two pills or just one?

Turner K replied: "how old are you, whats your weight, and how many mg are in each pill ? these can play a factor. you can probably take 2 on 4 hour intervals of the 2 different pain killers. aleve.>4hours> advil >4hours> aleve. i would ask a doctor before trying though"

Is it okay to take advil after aleve? I took aleve 7 hours ago. I ran out and now I have advil. Is it okay to take it or should I get more aleve?

Larry F replied: "Sure, the Aleve has more than likely worked it's way through your system. This is easy for future reference. If the "next dose" of a med is in 4 hours, the earlier med is gone from you in that time. Taking something every 4 to 6 hours would tell be that the last dose ran out in that time, faster if you're active."

becky replied: "You should be fine with a time frame of 7 hours, just becare, cause they both are .anti-inflammatories. Make sure you eat while taking them.you can usually take up to 800mg advil like every four to six hours if doct prescribes. Just rough on the gut, and are blood thinners."

I took two Aleve several hours ago. Is it okay to take two Advil after taking Aleve? I'm thinking that I shouldn't take more Aleve and that two Advil might be a better solution. I have some stronger stuff, but I have to drive tonight.

Susan M replied: "You shouldn't mix them. They could cause stomach irritation, like an ulcer. Take another aleve with some food if you need. You already have aleve in your blood. You wouldn't need to take so much to make the aleve more effective."

Suburban Girl replied: "There are 4 different OTC pain relievers advil (ibuprofen) tylenol (acetaminophen) and naproxin (I don't remember the brand name) and aspirin. You can take each of these, and mix them if your pain is sever, but if you have taken something like aleve that contains more than one pain reliever make sure you read the bottle and take whatever wasn't in it. Look at the active ingredients on the label. As I recall, aleve has aspirin and naproxin. These are both 12 hour pain relievers, so if you need to take more take either ibuprofen or acetaminophen (tylenol). "Overdosing" on any one pain reliever doesn't do you any good. Your body can only absorb so much, and the rest goes out with your urine. It can also cause problems like upset stomach or if taken too long, ulcers. I buy each pain reliever by itself, and if I have a big pain I mix them. If a headache is my complaint I also drink some coffee or other caffeinated soda."

Can you take advil and aleve together? I had some dental work done this morning and am now in pain, I took aleve a couple of hours ago, is it safe to advil also?

Skeeter replied: "You can take tylenol but not ibuprofen (Advil) as they are too similar of a medication. Tylenol will help with the pain and go hand in hand with the Aleve."

Chris H replied: "I wouldn't , not unless you want to mess up your kidneys. But you won't know it until it's too late!"

Can a Medical Assistant suggest to take advil or aleve to a patient? I am just curious because I know that they cannot legally write or renew pre ions. Just wondering if this is ok.

Pam R replied: "No. You should not be giving any kind of medical advice, no matter how trivial. You don't personally know the person's medical history"

What can I take for really bad menstrual cramps after gastric bypass? Dr says NO to Advil and Aleve..? Dr says no to the Advil and Aleve because it is too harsh on the tummy.. and Tylenol is not touching the pain.. Will they prescribe narcotic pain meds for severe cramps? I mean I have been doubled over with the heating pad and on the couch for 3 days!!! Thanks for any advice..

jlinderts replied: "Tylenol."

YAZ side effects, do you like it and can you really not take aleve/advil while on it? also, i know this is probably obvious but im married and just had a baby, i do not want to get pregnant again anytime soon so should we use condoms as well or is the pill enough?

sweetie_pie1618 replied: "The pill should be enough. Doctors usually recommend condoms as an extra protection. You may want to use a condom for the first month, but because you are married you will probably be fine without a condom if your partner and you both have no conditions that could infect the other. The condoms are usually used to prevent the spread of any diseases too. Just be sure to take your birth control correctly and you should be fine."

toxxikk replied: "I want to know the answers to the YAZ questions too! lol as for the pregnancy question: as long as you are taking the pill correctly (same time every day, etc) then it will be a pretty good birth control. BUT there is always a slight chance of getting pregnant on the pill. Especially if the strength of your pill isn't strong enough. But if you get the pre ion from YOUR doctor, just for you, then it should be strong enough for YOU. My family is very very fertile. The majority of babies were "birth control babies" who slipped through the systems, lol. There is always a slight chance of getting pregnant from any birth control situation unless you are simply not able to bear children."

Holley C replied: "I just use the pill. I have a 4 year old, and like you, had no desire to have one again anytime soon (and still don't). I'm on Yasmin and nothing else. Everyone's body is different. No one can say what will work for you."

starr_goddess replied: "well for somethin that is not 100% effective i would still consider using condoms for extra protection..but as long as you take your pills everyday on time..you should be fine Other meds like advil should not affect the birth control in any way..i usually take tylenol when i start getting headaches...as long as your not smoking or taking antibiotics its ok"
